The way you work, decide, respond, and use your energy is not random.
Motivational design helps us understand the patterns underneath it so we can make better decisions about what fits, what doesn’t, and what needs to change.

Some work gives you energy even when it is difficult. Other work drains you even when you are good at it. Understanding that difference gives us useful information.
In my coaching, I use motivational design to help you see what consistently energizes you, what depletes you, and what patterns are influencing the way you work, make decisions, carry responsibility, and respond to change.
The Motivation Code assessment is one tool I may use as part of that process.
The value is not in receiving a set of results. It is in understanding what those results mean in the context of your actual life and then using that insight to make better decisions.
How this shows up in coaching
Understand what energizes you ✦ Name what drains you ✦ Apply what we learn
Motivational design gives us a way to understand the patterns underneath your work, decisions, and energy. We use what we learn to make practical changes in the life and work you’re actually living.
Why Motivational Design Matters in My Work

It gets underneath performance.
Being good at something does not necessarily mean the work gives you energy. Motivational design helps us distinguish ability from fulfillment.

It gives us useful language.
Instead of staying with “I’m overwhelmed,” “I’m bored,” or “something feels off,” we can begin naming what is actually happening.

It gives us something practical to work with.
The goal is not greater self-awareness for its own sake. We use what we learn to change decisions, boundaries, responsibilities, expectations, and the way you approach your work.
This work is most helpful when:
Work feels heavier than it should.

You are capable, but something about the way you are working is costing more energy than it used to.
You keep circling the same decision.

You need more than a pros-and-cons list. You need to understand what is underneath the hesitation.
You know something needs to change.

You know a change is coming, but you want to make it thoughtfully rather than simply escaping what is not working.
You want your work to fit better.

You want greater alignment between who you are, what matters to you, and the way you spend your time and energy.
I’m Laura Roland, a Certified Catholic Leadership Strategist + Coach. I help people understand what is actually happening beneath the friction, fatigue, indecision, or sense that something no longer fits.
Motivational design is one of the lenses I bring to that work. It helps us understand how you naturally engage, contribute, make decisions, and use your energy so we can work with who you are instead of constantly asking you to override it.
This work is strategic and reflective, but it is always practical. We take what we discover and apply it to the work, decision, transition, or season in front of you.
